Cinnamon Essential Oil - 10 ml
Cinnamon Essential Oil - 10 ml
Cinnamon Essential Oil, extracted through steam distillation from the Cinnamomum zeylanicum tree, also known as Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon, offers two distinct varieties. The oil from leaves, gentler and yellow to light brown, is commonly used in aromatherapy. In contrast, the bark-derived oil, darker brown, is less favored in aromatherapy due to its strength.
Known for its calming properties and potent antiseptic qualities, Cinnamon oil is renowned for its versatility. When used in an oil burner, it is believed to aid in colds, bronchitis, and lifting depression. In bath water or as part of a massage oil blend, it proves effective for bronchitis, diarrhoea, chills, infections, flu, rheumatism, and arthritis. Additionally, it eases nausea and vomiting, stimulates the glandular system, and may reduce menstrual pain. It's essential to avoid the leaf oil during pregnancy, and the bark oil should be used diluted under expert supervision due to its strength.
The cinnamon tree, native to the Indian subcontinent, has been a significant item of trade for centuries, connecting India, China, and Egypt. The source of cinnamon was a long-standing mystery to the Western world. Historical accounts, including those of Herodotus, suggested that Arabia was the origin, with tales of giant Cinnamon birds collecting sticks for their nests. This belief persisted until 1310 in Byzantium.
